Africally Speaking (AS); a hub
for African innovators connecting like minded Africans and non-Africans seeking
opportunities on the continent has landed kicking off in style with a Virtual
Launch Party on Sunday 13th April 2014. It was the peak of an exciting social
media campaign described by PR veteran and Obama campaigner, Julius Barthson,
as “the best Afro product launch I have witnessed in a while.”
The event featured a lively
tweet chat about encouraging innovation in African business. Award-winning
techpreneur, Rebecca Enonchong of AppsTech and Price Water House Coopers’ Venan
Sondo led the discussion from Douala, Cameroon and Accra, Ghana respectively.
Africally Speaking seeks to
examine development on the continent through the lens of innovation.
“The advancement of societies
largely depends on disruptive actions by forward thinking people. Despite such
strides being made regularly in various sectors in Africa, much attention seems
focused on changes in the tech field. While this is fantastic, it does not capture
the full story of how Africa is growing.
We seek to add to the narrative
by analysing the work of movers and shakers in business, politics and social
issues, among other areas.” explained Founding Editor, Ngum Ngafor.
The interactive site, which went
live on Monday 14th April 2014, will feature two weekly interviews spotlighting
the achievements of African pioneers and innovators. Coming up on April 28th, a
tete a tete with renowned Buea based tech leader, Mambe Churchill Nanje of
AfroVision and Njorku.
