ON VA GERER, THE BEAUTIFUL LOVE SONG BY MR LEO

If there ever was a debate on who has the sweetest most soothing vocals in the Cameroon music industry, we at DC say undoubtedly that it is the most talented Mr Leo. His vocals melt like Swiss chocolate in the mouth and taste just as wonderful too.

Fresh from his debut song - another love song last year entitled E Go Betta which we covered here, Mr Leo is back with another which was realised yesterday. Produced by Salatiel (MTN Winner and Fap Kolo singer); On Va Gerer is a highlands inspired afrobeats love song with the singer promising to be there for his lover and their children despite their hardship. The song also encourages girls against abortion and overall encourages us to hold onto love. Listen to the beautiful song below...

THE YOUNG CAMEROON ACHIEVERS WHO MET QUEEN ELIZABETH II IN BUCKINGHAM PALACE...

THE QUEEN’S YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME DISCOVERS, CELEBRATES AND SUPPORTS EXCEPTIONAL YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH, LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY FOR HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN.

Last year, a search was launched to find exceptional young people to receive the first ever Queen’s Young Leaders Awards. Hundreds of applications flooded in from incredible young people all dedicated to making lasting change in their community and beyond.

And this was the joyous and unforgettable moment for three very talented and hardworking young Cameroonians as their blood, sweat and tears was celebrated by the most famous monarch in the whole wide world, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in her Buckingham Palace home in London last night.

Alain Nteff, a 30 under 30 to watch Forbes Africa nominee who has won many awards as well as nominations on many lists for young achievers/game changers to watch - for his GiftedMom initiative was celebrating last night as he met the Queen and received his Queen's Young Leader Award.

Joannes Paulus Yimbesalu was also celebrating last night for his recognition on the education led initiative Hope For Children Cameroon (Hopefcc) which provides education to underprivileged children thus enabling them to maximise their full potential.

Mallah Enow Tabot has worked hard to improve the lives of many young women in Cameroon including those at risk of early and forced marriages. Her organisation, United Vision For Women uses theatre and art to engage communities and change attitudes. Mallah also wants to achieve better sexual and reproductive health for teenage girls.

The winners of this prestigious award also receive a unique package of training, mentoring and networking, including a one-week residential programme in the UK including collecting their award from Her Majesty the Queen. With this support, award winners will be expected to continue and develop the amazing work they are already doing in their communities.

Some images of the ceremony below...

Well done to all involved this year. Watch a video about the ceremony and the lucky award winners here below...

OUR BEST SELFIES OF THE WEEK...

It starts with a certain angle: a smartphone tilted at 45 degrees just above your eyeline is generally deemed the most forgiving. Then a light source: the flattering beam of a backlit window or a bursting supernova of flash reflected in a bathroom mirror, as preparations are under way for a night out.

The pose is important. Knowing self-awareness is conveyed by the slight raise of an eyebrow, the sideways smile that says you're not taking it too seriously. A doe-eyed stare and mussed-up hair denotes natural beauty, as if you've just woken up and can't help looking like this. Sexiness is suggested by sucked-in cheeks, pouting lips, a nonchalant cock of the head and a hint of bare flesh just below the clavicle. Snap!

Afterwards, a flattering filter is applied. Outlines are blurred, colours are softened, a sepia tint soaks through to imply a simpler era of vinyl records and VW camper vans.

All of this is the work of an instant. Then, with a single tap, you are ready to upload: to Twitter, to Facebook, to Instagram, each likeness accompanied by a self-referential hashtag.  Soon, you repeat the whole process, trying out a different pose. Again and again. This then, is the addictive selfie: the self-portrait of the digital age. We are all at it. Just type "selfie" into the Twitter search bar. Or take a look at Instagram, where over 90million photos are currently posted with the hashtag #me.

The Cameroon online users are not immune to this selfie syndrome and even mama Chantou caught the bug. Here below are our best selfies from the week...

THEY CAME, THEY PLAYED AND THEY MADE CAMEROON PROUD...OUR FIFAWWC JOURNEY ENDS.

Every great thing certainly has a beginning and an end and so was true for our Lionnesses at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada where last Tuesday they were eliminated from the 16 finals by China after emerging second best from Group C.

Despite losing and leaving the game, the girls gave us back our hope and pride as they demonstrated great determination and excitement in their games. They gave the world a chance to discover great talents such as Gabrielle Onguene and Fedjou who singlehandedly maneouvered the midfield and Gaelle Enganamouit who made history by becoming the first African woman to score a hat trick in the World Cup.

Here is our toast to the them and to the manager Enow Ngachu...see you again soon girls!

CAMEROON LIONNESSES MAKE IT THROUGH THE GROUP STAGE AT FIFAWWC...

The Cameroon Lionnesses had another splendid game against the Swiss last Tuesday beating them two goals to one with another excellent match game from Gabrielle Onguene who was awarded the best player of the match.

Moving second top of Group C into the final 16 with group leaders Japan, the girls still have a lot more to offer in this tournament as they prepare for their game against China tonight in Edmonton.

"We know China are one of the best teams in the world but we believe we have more surprises." states coach Enow Ngachu.

Whatever happens, we are firmly rootong for our girls because they have come to this tournament ready to rewrite history. Go Lionnesses go!

Don't miss the match tonight against China...
