STANIS USES LYRICAL SATIRE TO EXPOSE THE VICES AND PERVERSITY IN OUR COMMUNITY...

Calabash Music releases the visuals for ‘Faux Weh’, a song by their newly signed hip hop artist Stanis. The video is an introduction of the creative capacity that the rapper possesses. Stanis sings in English, French and Pidgin, revealing the affinity that people have for the 'easy way out' (Faux Weh) in our communities. In a light, lyrical - almost playful - tone, he exposes several vices that have unfortunately become the norm in our society today. And he does so on a bouncy afro trap beat produced by label mate; DJ K+

On the video, director Dr. Nkeng Stephens infuses a creative twist that further brings Stanis' storytelling to life. It portrays the artist playing various vicious roles whilst also seeking redemption from his bad ways. So what kicks off as a personification of the glorification of vice, ends up becoming a call to action for us to become more virtuous people. In a musical scene already pervaded by perversity, Stanis is subliminally carving a new niche through satire. Click below to watch, be thrilled and redeemed.

CHECK MA SWAG (VIRAL VIDEO) BY DON CROZZY FT EMMA MIMBA

Emma Mimba is a young Cameroonian who is well known for his successful football career and remarkable rap skills. He dedicated the most part of his life developing his football career but this didn't stop him from keeping up with his passion for music with his well known freestyle videos on YouTube and Facebook.

Emma Mimba has finally decided to kick off his music career by jumping on the remix of the street anthem 'Check Ma Swag' by Don Crozzy while preparing for the release of his debut EP titled 'The Thing Be Start Like Play' under his newly created label The Fame.

'Swag' is a very common term used amongst youths which refers to a person’s look or style. The song "Check Ma Swag' looks at the term 'swag' from a completely unusual perspective which you would least expect, making references to some fun childhood experiences which we all have been through in a language you can understand.

The song is accompanied by an afro hip hop instrumental with a purely 'mboko' feel suitable for the club. 'Check Ma Swag' is produced by Geega a.k.a Beationary and is released with an amazing viral video directed by Chuzih Dadido.

Watch and enjoy.

STANIS THE SCHOOL DROP-OUT BATTLES TO BE CAMEROON'S RAP KING...

Cameroon's new international music label, Calabash Music has announced the signing of its first hip hop artist named Stanis.

Born in Bamenda and currently based in Buea, Stanis 'Le Dragon' is a fluently bilingual guitarist, rapper and singer whose music can be described as afro trap.

After having one of his songs fall in the hands of Cornel, a South African based Cameroonian music producer signed to Calabash Music, his music was auditioned by the A&R committee who were impressed by his versatility, singing and rapping ability, rhythms and hard punch lines. A few meetings later at the Calabash Music office in Akwa Douala, a deal was reached with its A&R representative, Wax Dey.

Calabash Music is really excited to have such a talented rapper on board we will move swiftly to release the materials we are working on because Cameroon is hungry for new talent that can be sold to the world." stated Calabash Music publicist Clarisse Ndinge.

"I write my music with the help of a guitar, but my rap music is very commercial. I make music for the masses and I'm ready to take over. My team is fire. Cameroonian hip hop will not be the same after Stanis so watch this space." Stanis added.

We look forward to what he has to offer.

MEET TINO FOY; THE RAPPER PRODUCER WHO WANTS TO CHANGE THE CAMEROON MUSIC SCENE...

Tino Foy is not your ordinary pop star. He would like to re-direct Cameroon’s urban music scene by introducing a refreshing tempo and new trends.

As a music producer and a creative director, his vision is to change the status quo in no time.  As a producer-rapper, Tino Foy has been very active in the music industry in the last few years, reasons why the release of his first official single GENES is creating super waves. The release, has been scheduled to hit both international and local media on the 17th of May 2016.

The origin of Genes

The title GENES has a deep meaning and it is a message to self. The message was inspired by a series of difficulties Tino encountered trying to kick-start his musical career.

"No matter how many times something is stolen from you, or that you are being cheated out of your work, you can always do it again because – it’s all in the genes, it’s a God given talent and only him can take it away" states Tino.

The song boasts a fresh soundscape and a video that according to Tino will forever redefine a Cameroonian music video as we know it.

Genes, is co-produced with music producer and long-time friend Geega whose other known work includes a track on Magasco’s EP RAW GOLD. The audio and video is an independent release and will be released on the same day.

CAMER'S FINEST EXPORT; THE NEW EP DEEPLY ROOTED IN TRADITION AND CULTURE BY KING KIMBO

Poised to properly introduce himself to the world, Cameroon born, and American raised rapper King Kimbo also known as Kimbo released his first solo EP titled "Camer's Finest Export".

This goldmine of six tracks is a direct reflection of an artist living in a foreign land but deeply rooted in his tradition and culture. Listeners will be introduced to a rich spectrum of genres. The simple yet groovy CFE intro speaks to the influence of Cameroonian hip-hop in his life, while the pulse pounding afro-trap track titled Philosophy horns in on the revolution of rap.

The EP also travels back to the homeland with the Bamenda bottle dance inspired track titled Let You Go. King K through his use of Pidgin, English and French, embodies the full tonality of what it is like to be Cameroonian, American, and an artist at the same time.

These songs serve as a bold declaration of self-realisation and actualisation. King K crowns his artistry with defining lyrics that straddle the lines between confidence and arrogance. Not ashamed to embrace his gift, King K sets a path that will dispel any rumors of his capabilities. It is through this radical love of self, the art, and his culture, that King K has truly found his way home. This is all to say that the finest of exports will always lead you back to the place of its Origin.
