CAMEROON'S HOT NEW VICE CAPTAIN!

Eyong Enoh was one of the important newbees of the latest Cameroon squad that featured at the past World Cup demonstrating that Cameroon still has a chance of dominating African football.

Rising from the Mount Cameroon FC squad to Ajax Cape Town and then storming the Dutch Eredivisie League playing at Ayax, Eyong has not done badly at all! Is his success down to a good combo of skill and discipline? Apparently he is known to be very religious shunning the typical footballer lifestyle and limelight in favour of church and his family.

This sexy young thing will continue to set the ladies' hearts on fire as he has just been chosen to be our deputy leading man behind Samuel Eto'o Fils, by the Ministry of Sports. So do we expect more discipline within the team? We hope so!

Eyong will be supported by Nicholas Nkoulou of Monaco who has also been assigned as his deputy.

It seems like a new era is unfolding for Cameroon football, so let's join in and give them our full support.

NEW COACH FOR CAMEROON

Goodbye Le Guen, hello Clemente! The Cameroon national team has got a new coach, Spaniard Javier Clemente. The 60 year old is not a newbee in the footing world, he started out as a player but due to injury turned to coaching. He has coached teams such as Real Betis, Tenerife, Real Murcia, Real Sociedad, Olympique de Marseille, Real Valladolid, Athletico Bilbao as well as the Spanish and Serbian national teams.

He will be working closely with two former Cameroonian internationals, Francois Omam-Biyik and Jacques Songo'o. The duration of the deal is not known but apparently he will receive 20 million francs CFA per month while his assistants will both get 10 million francs each.
For more on him, go here.

Francois Omam-Biyik is one of Cameroon's greatest international players especially during the nineties playing in 3 World Cups. His greatest moment was when he scored the winning goal in the opening match against Argentina during the 1990 World Cup at the San Siro stadium in Italy.

He has played for teams such as Canon Yaounde, Laval, Cannes, Marseille, Lens, Sampdoria, etc He currently resides in Mexico where he is a head coach of a Second Division team.
More about him, go here.

Jacques Songo'o is a retired Cameroon goalkeeper who spent his time in Spain and France till his retirement. His most successful spell was at Deportivo de la Coruna where he won the Zamora Trophy. In 1996, he was also voted Best African Goalkeeper.

As a caretaker coach, Jacques Songo'o led the national team to a 3-0 victory against Poland during a friendly match last week which called for his appointment as head coach.
For more on him, go here.

We hope together they will do a better job than what Le Guen did!!

ART IS MY ADDICTION!

Hello fellow DC readers and followers, welcome to the blog. Because of all of you we have now rolled into year 2 of our blog life with lots of visitors worldwide everyday. Thank you all so much!!

Today we are going to continue with our talent interviews.

We bring you a young rising talent out of Cameroon doing his very best to showcase his creativity. Art is his addiction and after having studied TV program direction and photography, he is now working for one of the top advertising agency in the world in Cameroon.

Below is his own story. Happy reading y'all!!

VOGUE NOT FOR AFRICA

Hello people so what’s good? Just wanted to update you on some news that has been circulating around our virtual world. I may be the last of the bloggers to blog about it nonetheless I still bring it to you. Many bloggers have blogged about this, some being in favour and thinking the reply was a regrettable one whilst others have completely refuted the idea of having it’s presence in our continent.

What am I referring to you may be thinking? I am referring to the idea of having a Vogue Africa magazine as proposed by Mario Epanya the Paris based fashion photographer from Cameroon.

The last time I caught up with him, he was very excited at the prospect of leading a Vogue Africa magazine. To be honest, I thought it a fantastic idea! The idea of seeing black models monthly sans cesse in a magazine was very appealing! Imagine what that would do to our fashion status and our models – oh the boost! But was this just my fantasy? Would there really have been a “black” Vogue magazine? Like really? Wouldn’t they have just wanted to feature more white African models than the black ones? Wouldn’t this just end up being the usual “African” termed but white market focused magazines we already have especially in places like South Africa? Well, who knows! The matter is since as it isn’t going to take place, speculation is all we will have.

Yes, Vogue Africa is not heading to Africa guys – let’s sob? Or let’s be happy and say good riddance? Well, Mario did his best and fought his hardest for this. If you are a friend of his on Facebook then you will really see how focused on this idea he has been throughout. His mock cover shots were beautiful and artistic and with his fashion experience I find him very capable of directing and leading this magazine to success in Africa.

This was a great idea that truly could be regrettable on the part of Condé Nast, the publishing company behind Vogue. I don’t really see why they said no as I feel it would have done very well. It wouldn’t have just been bought by people based in Africa but I feel it would have been bought by all black people in general as well as those interested in the African fashion scene. This is big time money making scheme they just turned down in my opinion!

Oh well, this is just my views and I guess we have the Vogue all black Italian edition to console ourselves. Would we ever have an edition like this again though? Was that just to keep us quiet? Is Vogue Africa truly viable? Would it have been a great thing for us and for our fashion scene? Would it have reinforced stereotypes? Would it have had an economic effect on the other rising magazines available out there? Would it have helped to make the other magazines out there to up their game? All these questions, what are your opinions?
