Advocating
for a “Safe School for Girls - Stop Sexual Harassment” CAPEC engaged on a one
day campaign in Yaoundé last Monday October 5th with the objective
of bringing to light the impact of sexual violence amongst girls in particular in
schools.
Rape
and sexual harassment has for a long time affected the educational and social
lives of many young students, especially girls. The negative impact of these
activities on the lives of victims is a major worry.
CAPEC’s active interaction with schools on
Monday was a great experience for both the schools and the team. Questionnaires
were administered to get peoples view on sexual violence in schools, T-shirts
and flyers were shared to encourage the fight against this mal practice in
the school milieu.
CAPEC
is determined to do its bit toward bringing sexual violence to the forefront of
our society.
