Something we have always found rather amusing and quite sad at the same time is the response that Cameroonian 'celebs' get from the Cameroonian crowd on social media especially.
Whilst it seems the Nigerian online community are very receptive of their stars (albeit they do voice their opinions when they need to) with many likes and comments and retweets on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the Cameroon stars on the otherhand are even lucky if they get just a fraction of such response. What a big shame isn't it?
Take for example the below image with a simple caption posted by Davido on his Facebook Page...in just over 30 minutes see how many likes and comments the dude received...
Oh yes there is the excuse that there are millions more Nigerians than Cameroonians...but we have less stars than Nigeria so why not all join forces and back what we have than create camps and gangs? Ah the other excuse is that Cameroon has no celeb culture...but who creates or should create that culture? Are we saying there is not even 1 or 2 or a handful that can be deemed celebs? Are we saying that Cameroon is that backward? Are we saying there are no talents in Cameroon worth 'bigging' up always? Did Nigeria not create theirs themselves?
If you want to see the majority of Cameroonians react on social media, just start a negative thread that brings down a personality who is currently trending and watch how they jump at it with retweets, comments and replies. But post something positive and the majority would not bat an eyelid. The je m'en fous attitude has got to go.
Wake up Cameroon. Wake up Cameroonians...

Well said .Cameroonian stars also should humble themselves and appreciate their crowd as the niaja's r doing.
ReplyDeleteOf course there is a problem with camer fans BUT ALSO with celebes themselves ! For example how many of them have an Instagram account ? The fact with naija celebs is that we WANT to know what is going on in their life ! But Camer celebs mainly interact with their fans when it's just for promoting their music so... We have to blame both parts.
ReplyDeletePS : Excuse my english.
A francophone girl :P
HOW DO U COMPARE US WITH NAIJA WHEN BLOGGERS KEEP USING THE TIME THEY SUPPOSE TO USE TO PROMOTE THEIR HOME BASE OR CAMEROON CELEBS BY PROMOTING SPREADING THE NAIJA NEWS IN EBERYBLOGG.
ReplyDeleteSMMSSH THE TRUTH NEEDS BE SAID YOU MADE OUR AUDIENCE KNOW WE DONT WORTH CAUSE YOU ARE NOT CAMER INCLINE YOU WANNA GET EASILY NOTICED.YOU KNOW HOW NAIJA LOVE THEIR THING THEIR STUFF COME FIRST AND THEYDO ANYTHING TO DOWN PLAY ANOTHER COUNTRY SO BLOGGERS YOU TOO GOT A BIG ISSUE HERE AND STOP BLAMING ARTISTS
All those like and comment aren't just from Nigeria ! Once Cameroonian stars stop aiming local and start aiming pa african as well as international , then comments will follow ! #Think local and Act Onternational
