Please send us names of people you think we may have left out and we will include in our file towards the 2011 list.

2 high shool no-bodies as part of your list??? Are you kidding me? Have you heard of Ndamukong Suh??? APs college Football athlete of the year, #3 in heisman voting, and about to become the #1 pick overall in the coming NFL draft??? Is this a list of your buddies and family friends?
ReplyDeleteGreat initiative but the list seems to imply that the future of Cameroon is only in entertainment and fashion. No mention of the ICT/information technology guys who are moving cameroon into the 21st century against all odds, no entrepreneurs (see recent issue of success story magazine), a non representative literature, academia and politics categories, no list of Cameroon's top bloggers who are democratizing information and giving the biya regime a real headache, etc.
ReplyDeleteSince the DC team is most versed with the fashion/entertainment aspects of Cameroon life, I would recommend that for future editions, they should work with experts in other fields to come up with a more representative list.
All in all, great list which has helped me discover lots of interesting Cameroonians.
The 2 previous comments just show how difficult it is to come up with a list that is truly representative... Suddenly, the Jeaune Afrique list of top 50 cameroonian personalities doesn't seem so biased and lopsided after all:-)
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the initiative DC! You cannot satisfy everybody. No one has claimed this to be THE LIST; the title says 'Dulce Camer's Top 50' and so it is their point of view.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, we are all learning.
Way to go.
Thanks for all your comments and most of all thanks to anonymous 7.21am for the brilliant advise...if you are going to criticise something it is better to advise on how to do it better next time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kamer for pointing out the fact that we cannot satisfy everyone, this is a DC list and obviously we do not know everyone from Cameroon!!
I am certain next year's list will be better and more representative because of this year's initiative.
Thanks again and Happy New Year 2010!!
Very interesting list here showcasing Cameroonians doing great stuff around the world. I discovered many indeed.
ReplyDeleteFor the 2011 top 50, I suggest you create 10 categories with 5 "nominees" per category. This will surely motivate many to improve on what they do, and the current Top 50 to work harder to remain at the top.
Congrats for your determination to make up this list and share it.
Ndzulo, you said it!! Many many thanks for this feedback, much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteStay blest and thanks for checking the blog...spread the word!
Good initiative. It is worth including you on my list of Top 50.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you may need to work harder next time in researching your list. It looked a tad too close to your mates and people on the internet.
For instance, did you say Fonka Mutta is the youngest ever ("ever") CRTV news anchor? I think a girl called Yoeh Esapepong read the news at an earlier age than Mutta and I think there are others that you may want to check well. I lived in Brussels for a while and knew a young Cameroonian who is a full-time employee and international correspondent of Reuters based there. U may want to check that.
I realise from reading your blog that you are very much into fashion, urban-music, and the arts. Maybe you could fine-tune your work to be "DC's Top 50 (young) Cameroonians in the arts and entertainment".
You are really good and seem a reference in that area. Your critical audience shall certainly respect your judgement in that domain. No need to compete with Jeune Afrique!
Keep flying the Kamer (Camer) flag. Such is what we expect from young Cameroonians. Good idea!
Thank you KamerBrussels!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading the blog and for commenting too, much appreciated!
Like with any thing that is new, it does not have to be perfect and it lives room for improvement.
Please send me names of people you feel should be part of our nest year's list and we will keep on our file.
Our list was comprised based on people we have dealt with and seen to be doing a lot of work for their personal growth and the community's and of course we don not know the whole of Cameroon!!
Yes, you are right that this blog mostly centres itself on the entertainment/creative industries which we feel are under-represented in Cameroon and Cameroonian surroundings.
Thanks again and stay blest.
You put a lot of hard work into this and you should be recognized for that. This is only a sign of greater things to come. God Bless
ReplyDeleteSoraya
I doubt which world the people of Dulce Camer live in. Did they pay any attention to politics in Cameroon, the plight of the Cameroonian people, and the many Cameroonians and organisations struggling for the institution of democracy and respect for human rights in Cameroon. Your list is surely based on personal relationships, rather than reality.
ReplyDeleteThanks anonymous 3.05pm for reading the blog and leaving your comments. We understand that there are people fighting for democracy and human rights as you rightly put it but are you trying to say that these other individuals who are doing these things should not be recommended and encouraged??
ReplyDeleteThe are a lot of other Cameroonian blogs out there who commend and encourage those people you mentioned so at least let us (Dulce Camer)do our best to encourage these listed who are under represented.
And also, it is only through running this blog that we have come to know of all these fabulous people listed.
If you have names of people you feel should be on our list, please send to us and we will consider for 2011.
Thank you ans stay blest.
many thanks for ur comments guys. i'm glad we're talking. @ kamer brussels. please send us further details abt this young newsreader. she sounds interesting. inbox info to: brownschuga@hotmail.com
ReplyDeletengum
Good start, Ndmukong Suh is a big miss, Felix Leshey, the CAMSA-USA president guy for his Fall Bush program and books for Cameroon is also a big miss. Keep up the good Work, everything starts somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI salut your courage and initiative. But it's clear you have strong roots in the cameroon entertainment/media community and I suggest you brand your list as such. You risk loosing credibility, and interest by releasing a mediocre list like this one. I reckon it's your first attempt but you know many times there are no second chances...cradability is key and you just blew it on this...keep up the hard work (but work smart) and all the best in '10
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why do we always have to be so negative?
ReplyDeleteIf you paid any attention, you will notice(as someone else mentioned), that DC leans more towards the Arts & Entertainment Genre). They are other Cameroonian blogs out there with different themes such as Politics, Education, Humanitarianism.
Thank you Dc for the list. It has been a pleasure following you this 2009 and I hope you guys keep up the good work in promoting "young talented cameroonians". One day I will be on your top 50:)
What can I say...Amazing Initiative!! Just to show that there are many many cameroonians both young and old, up and coming men and women doing great things for cameroon! what a year for Dulce Camer...and to think its ONLY one year old! Hopefully this will encourage more cameroonians, to stop being oh so negative, get up and DO something to bring POSITIVE recognition to their country. DC has done its own top 50 list, this is now your chance to do better and be part of this revolution...Instead of negative criticism without positive solutions, take an active role in the various Cameroonian events going on. Attend events like Camer Couture '10, volunteer your efforts if you can to do bigger things for cameroon. Put together programs to encourage awareness about cameroon in your own little communities. If you know someone you feel is doing something big for cameroon, get a BLOG (its free) and write about it. or shoot an email to DC, Banyangi girl, Kamer stories..etc and they'll blown trumpets about that person. Its time we support each other. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is the way to go, learn it. A few people can't do it all alone. It takes a village to raise a SINGLE child. It will most def. take more people to raise a nation. With that said, DC and the people behind it, keep up the Great work! Those who made it on the list are def very encouraged to keep on trucking along!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI can only salut your very noble initiative. If I am not wrong, this is the first time that you have published such a list. Naturally, you can't satisfy everyone, but the idea is good and should be encourahing. I am therefore looking forward to seeing the 2010 list.
yes ellie you're right, it's our first list. thank you for your comments. DC is all about informing people and promoting everything fantastically cameroonian. we believe did so with this top 50 compilation. many of them may not be famous or come from career backgrounds traditionally favoured by our society but it doesn't devalue their work or potential.
ReplyDeletethanks too to all who have suggested names. we will definitely check them out. please feel free to email us as above and let us know how we can get in touch with these people.
the best thing is that we've got people talking! this exchange of ideas and action is what will get our nation going!

Small Business owners are largely forgotten. Thats why I only focus on them. I have experience several members of my family file bankruptcy due to small business failures. I also I suffered through 2 destroyed businesses due to failure however, in my failings I have learned some of the secrets to success. (Who can say they know it all?)
ReplyDeletewww.onlineuniversalwork.com
Yu rock! Dnt stop!
ReplyDeleteGreat job there Dulce Camer. However I must re-echo what others have said; your top 50 list has nothing on Science and Technology. Instead of waiting to be fed with information, please consider going out and getting the right information yourself. Please research properly and be ready to defend your list with concrete facts else your site will lose credibility. Hope to have a better 2011 Top 50 List. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGood job! Good start. Critisisms are supposed to make us stronger, not break us. Use them to your advantage to polish the rough edges. My only comments are that some of the descriptions are a little vague, eg, calling someone a rising star in the Arts or Lifestyle category doesn't really say much as to what they do or what makes them a rising star (I'm just paraphrasing). A little more info could go a long way. Also, having a dedicated proof reader could help reduce some of the "noise", like Houston for 'Euston', next for 'nest'. Besides that, keep it up! I am looking forward to your future postings.
ReplyDeleteMN Girl
Great job gurls. After managing to be at the top 50 i will be contacting Krimalthi who has some secrets for small businesses so that KiRette Couture can stay on the top 50 for ever. good job gurls. This is what this is all about. love u guys. Kibs
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that comes to mind when i go through this...'this is a highly botched list.' Nothing personal but knowing a couple of individuals on the list i do not believe they merit such a status. On the other hand this is a new project and perfection is the least i would expect. For future references, doing more groundwork, networking(most probably y'all did this already but to what extent?) will help you come up with a way better list than this. Congratulations on the effort and initiative. Atleast, there will be something positive to compete on.
ReplyDeleteHello DULCE CAMER!
ReplyDeleteMy greetings to all.
I have read in a brief, all the 26th comments; great ideas from incredible people. assuming i am / may not be simmering another heat - could somebody help clarify me on what should be done about the Kmer syndrome. yes! i called it a syndrome because it is chopping deep and even the unborn sometimes acquire it before they are put to birth.
This is a serious issue to be diagnose.
to elucidate, why should Cameroonians prove intelligence only as orators and never or hardly in the practical/ technical aspect of any incidents.
time has come to act more than speaking, please lets stand as one and defend that fatherland as said in the preamble of the country constitution.
who are we? great initiators, incredible inventors.
This is the time.
DC! courage!
i admire your bravery, keep up- you don't dare, you will never know you could.
My blessings.
Z
too sad i am not on the list yet, didn't u know about Suzanne Africa?, a young Camerounian activist who's running all she got for the fight against aids? u should look out for her, that girl has been doing crazy and enormous things out there in the states. she is making us proud and she's fighting for a good cause and seems her own country doesn't know about her.
ReplyDeletebut the list is interesting, good job Dulce Camer...
Thanks anonymous 1.04pm, we appreciate the name mentioned. We will investigate further.
ReplyDeleteThanks
this was a good article, although just like a bunch of people said, Ndamukong Suh is a much higher NFL prospect than any of the other guys mentioned. I like the Idea, I think it gives me reason to feel happy, that there is a bright future coming up. I also noticed that a lot of the people on the group are based outside the country, I do not have any issue with that, I just feel that, we should try and cover more people at home who are also just as influential to the development of the country. Above all, good job DC, I like the idea, two thumbs up
ReplyDeleteGreat Job. I see the list is not complete. We are working to change that. Check this out: www.cps-usa.org
ReplyDeleteWHY IS REPRUDENCIA SONKEY A.K.A RANGE ROVER NOT ON THE LIST?SHE IS ONE OF THOSE YONG GIRLS THAT INSPIRE ALOT OF YOUNG GIRLS,SHE IS GLOBAL AND KNOWN WORLDWIDE AND SHE'S DOING HER THING IN HOLLYWOOD
ReplyDeleteWhat about Arrey Kono in Germany - fashion designer about to blow everyone out of the water. Look her up instead of just listing your "friends".
ReplyDeletereading through all the comments I was really disgusted by the negativity. This young lady took the time, research to put a list together. besides this is her blog. She is not perfect.
ReplyDeletenonetheless, i really appreciate this dulce, i learned alot and i must say i was intrigue by what i learned. These are some of the things that make me proud and encourage me to follow my dreams.
I can see many are hating on DC because they are not listed LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL wekee Cameroonians, WILL YOU EVA CHANGE???
ReplyDeleteI can see the reason why Cameroon is not moving and keeps one person on sit in the name of president for more than 25yrs. Those who think they can criticize why not site on the net and make your own blog and post and lets see what comes out. DC right or wrong KEEP IT going. Its not all you see on Google that is right and not everything CNN tells you its true. If you doubt check and see and also the choices being mad by BET, GRAMMY and CO is not what you and I think. So DC you have made your point so clear and all you need to do now is ask them to either correct you by giving you their info or go ahead and great their own blog. After all no limits on the net. We all can read, type and create so why condemn? At least you have done. How many people have sat and even thought about it. Even our very Cameroon doesn't pass out this kind of info. Why the hate...How do we plan to progress?
ReplyDeleteGreat job done Dulce Camer. I am positively impressed. Keep up the good work. One person who should feature is Suh Ndamukong for his great achievement in NFL. Another person who should belong to this list is Mirabel Fonyuy for her lifestory, original and simple poems(www.poetry.com), music (www.myspace.com/mirabelf) and blogs. She is an inspiration to a lot of young African,Cameroonian girls.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the positive feedback. We aim to continue with this initiative and inspire others to come out of their shells and do something positive.
ReplyDeleteThanks again
Great initiative and please carry on the awesome job, regardless of the critics. Its meant to help you grow and your publication is work in progress.
ReplyDeleteThat said, i do have a few people i would like you to research and include in your list if your judging panel sees them fit to be selected in your list of nominees. They are Dr Clotilde Sirri Suh(Norway),Ful Kuh George(Germany),Akong Charles European Union,Nsoyuni Lawrence (Cameroon)Dr Mahop Marcellin (London/Cameroon),Nyambi Kenneth (Sweden/Basingstoke UK).
Goodluck with your next list. I assure alot is expected of you and the task ahead is challenging. But hey you seem like the type of person who will up for it.
I love to look at the glass half full than half empty. So ill say; its a good thing we are recognizing some people for a good job in whatever walk of life!
ReplyDeleteIn the future we could also have an education/health tag on such a lists maybe?
Nice one!
ReplyDeleteBut cant get to see russia on tha list check out ma boy DA DUCE www.daduce.ru reppin it down in RUSSIA
I started off inspired until I started reading the comments, then freaked out by some of the blatant remarks.
ReplyDeletePeeps politically correctness is helpful in our criticism coz you can easily kill a persons ambition, downright discourage them using the wrong words and where does that put us... back to square one.
I'm glad we got tons of helpful info, n I am looking forward to the next issue with all the tremendous help n info others have supplied, and even being on such a list in the near future . Thanks Dulce
Hi Dulce,
ReplyDeleteGreat list u have got there. But in the future you could research and add George Esunge Fominyen who has had a succesful ride from CRTV to REUTERS and has a blog that is one of the top blogs by Africans. Check this out and it will lead to his site. http://blogafrica.allafrica.com/list/entry/main/main/fid/09sSubniBF4FimVG.html
OR Just google his name and judge right.
Then Charlotte dipanda, best singer 2009. Rewarded in a 2010 award show cant be ignored.
Love ur work. keep it up and one day I know i will be a part of this list revealed through my work. Inspiring.
Thank you all for all the encouragement and feedback. Thanks for the names too. We will be posting a list of categories for you to get voting for the talents you want to see in our list this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you again!!
Stay blest

hi DC,
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great initiative it's your 1st try and you did great coming up with these young inspiring cameroonians. I noticed that among Cameroonians we do not support each other enough. We tend to say negative comments instead of constructive criticisms. I am not saying this only cause of this blog that I think is fabulous, but I went on bonaberi.com and few other cameroonian blogs and I have to say we are NASTY to each other. We cannot appreciate when one of us is succeeding! That's sad but here are few people you can look up Antoinette Nana Djimou she's an athlete, Teddy Tamgho is the new triple jump world champion, Prince Momo promising soccer player from UCLA, Danielle Frankie Fotso former miss Cameroon USA, he's a little older Bertini heumegni he appeared in america's nxt top model and he has a movie coming out with helene of the nubians, Luc Mbah Moute milwaukee Bucks player, The fashionistas Cote Minou, the talented Sophy Aiida...and many more
ma ma mia my girl. Go ahead. You've done a good job. We must understand that no-one can ever satisfy everybody.
ReplyDelete
