THE 2009 BALLON D'OR AWARD GOES TO...

Samuel Eto'o Fils is one of the 10 footballers shortlisted for the 2009 European Player Award.

The event also known as the Ballon d'Or has only ever been won by an African player, the former Liberian international George Weah back in 1995 together with the World and African player awards.

Samuel joins Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney as well as Chelsea FC and Ivory Coast international player Didier Drogba in this shortlist.
